The Funded: Katie Rae and Techstars

The Funded: Featuring Techstar's Katie Rae and SocialSci's Leon Noel - 1/26 @ 4:30pm - Olin 201

Join us as we hear the story of SocialSci and the Techstar's program.

Techstars is a startup incubator with programs in Boston, New York, Seattle, and Boulder.  The program grants accepted companies up to $18,000, provides them with mentorship, and then presents them to venture capitalists and other funders.  In exchange, Techstars get a 6% stake in the startup.

Katie Rae is the director of Techstars Boston and has recently started Project11, a seed stage micro-VC fund.  She has had a long career in tech, most recently as Head of Product for Microsoft Startup Labs.

Leon Noel dropped out of Yale months before graduation to found SocialSci.  The company is building a community of researchers and participants to streamline social science research.  Currently, SocialSci is tracking over $5 million being paid out by live research studies.  Leon and SocialSci graduated from the Techstars program this Spring.
